Exit the Edu-Factory: Essays on Refusal, Rebellion & Rebirth is an anthology of essays discussing the ways in which scholars and students are finding their power and their voice through academic exodus, and through refusal to submit to the exploitation and ruin caused by the corporatized university, both in the United States, where the deprofessionalization of the scholarly class began in the 1980s, or throughout the world anywhere that this casualization and shift to precarious employment of faculty is taking place.
The collection will be edited by Debra Leigh Scott, Founding Editor-in-Chief of Hidden River Publishing, whose documentary, ‘Junct: The Trashing of Higher Ed. in America, is heading into post-production.
The hope is that this book will not only expand the reach of our conversations on the topic of corporate colonization of the American university, but that it will be the center around which a movement will grow – a mass exodus and collective re-imagining of what the university can be in this new millennium and beyond.
